Casein protein is a protein powder which is derived from cow’s milk, it represents about 80% of milk proteins (the remaining 20% are whey).

The two most common forms of casein are: calcium caseinate and micellar casein.

The calcium caseinate is the form of the oldest casein potein, its quality is less than the quality of micellar casein.

Due to its manufacturing process (chemical transformations), calcium caseinate is not adsorbed gradually as it should.

Unlike calcium caseinate, thanks to its manufacturing process, micellar casein retains its slow assimilation.
It is the preferable form of casein.

Interest and use of the casein protein

Once ingested, casein will coagulate in the stomach and form a gel, which will slow down the absorption and increase the feeling of satiety.
The amino acids in the casein will thus gradually be released into the bloodstream for several hours.

You can take your casein before going to sleep.

You can also use the total milk proteins (that is a mixture of approximately 20% whey protein and 80% casein protein) instead of casein.
